理工系英語のパラグラフライティングの基礎力向上を目指す。 This class aims to improve basic skills in paragraph writing focusing on scientific English. |

総授業時間数 22.5 時間 Total hours: 22.5 第1週/Week 1 オリエンテーション：シラバスの内容を理解し、次週からの準備を行う。 Orientation: Understand the contents of the syllabus, and prepare for the following weeks. 第2週/ Week 2: UNIT 1 An Anecdote 第3週/ Week 3: UNIT 2 A Chronological Biography 第4週/ Week 4: UNIT 3 A Thematic Biography 第5週/ Week 5: UNIT 4 Reporting 第6週/ Week 6: UNIT 5 A Critical Review 第7週/ Week 7: UNIT 6 Comparing / Contrasting 第8週/ Week 8: UNIT 7 REVIEW Units 1 ~ 6 第9週/ Week 9: UNIT 8 Seeing the Other Side 第10週/ Week 10: UNIT 9 A Problem / Solution Essay (1) 第11週/ Week 11: UNIT 10 A Problem / Solution Essay (2) 第12週/ Week 12: UNIT 11 An Academic (Opinion) Essay (1) 第13週/ Week 13: UNIT 12 An Academic (Opinion) Essay (2) 第14週/ Week 14: UNIT 13 An Academic (Arguing) Essay 第15週/ Week 15: UNIT 14 REVIEW Units 7 ~ 12 ほぼ毎週、教室で小課題に取り組み、提出いただきます（第1週、第8週、第15週を除く）。 Students are required to work on a small assignment in the classroom and submit it every week, except for the Week 1, 8, and 15. 宿題として、中間課題と最終課題を提出いただきます。各課題の内容は授業中に指示します。［中間課題の提出期限：6月12日（水）／最終課題の提出期限：8月7日（水）］ Students will be required to submit a midterm and a final assignment as homework. The details will be announced in the class. Midterm assignment is due on 12 Jun./ Final assignment is due on 7 Aug. 学生への十分な周知のもと、授業計画は変更する可能性があります。 The course schedule might be changed keeping every student informed about it. |

| 成績評価方法 ／Grading Guidelines |
毎週の課題40％、中間課題30%、最終課題30%で評価する。100点満点中60点以上が合格点である。 The score of each student is evaluated by small assignments (40%), a mid-term assignment (30%), and a final assignment (30%). A grade of more than 60 is accepted for a credit. 到達度目標1～3は提出課題で評価する。 Goals 1-3 are evaluated by the assignments to be submitted. 学生への十分な周知のもと、成績評価方法は変更する可能性があります。 The evaluation method might be changed keeping every student informed about it. |
