| 授業のねらい ／Learning Objectives |
This course is designed to provide graduate students with an opportunity to develop their skills and confidence in giving an academic presentation in English. |

1. To develop the verbal and non-verbal skills to give an effective academic presentation. 2. To understand and create visual aids that will effectively communicate the main findings of research data. 3. To produce and present a mini-presentation on their current research. |
| 授業計画 ／Course Schedule |
総授業時間数 12 時間 Total hours: 12 Week 1: Purpose and structure of academic presentations Week 2: Physical Message I Week 3: Physical Message II Week 4: Presentation flow: from greetings to goodbyes Week 5: Visual Message I Week 6: Visual Message II Week 7: Answering audience questions Week 8: Student presentations and instructor feedback ほぼ毎週練習課題があります。 A practice assignment will be given almost every week. 各回の学修時間の目安は、事前・事後合わせて1時間必要です。 For each 90 minute class, students are expected to undertake an additional 1 hour of self study. 新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行状況に伴い、学生への十分な周知のもと、授業計画・授業実施方法は変更する可能性があります。 Due to the epidemic situation of COVID19, the plan and implementation method may be changed. | 成績評価方法 ／Grading Guidelines |
毎回の課題５０％、最終のプレゼンテーション50%で評価する。100点満点中60点以上が合格点である。 The score of each student is evaluated by assignments (50%) and a final presentation (50%). A grade of more than 60 is needed for a credit. 到達度目標１～３は課題と最終のプレゼンテーションで評価する。 Goals 1-3 are evaluated by assignments and the final presentation. 新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行状況に伴い、学生への十分な周知のもと、成績評価方法は変更する可能性があります。 Due to the epidemic situation of COVID19, the grading guidelines may be changed. 定員は各クラス16名です。 There is an enrollment limit of 16 students in each class. 事前登録が必須である。詳細は掲示板及びMoodleを見ること。 Pre-registration is necessary. Please check the information on Moodle. https://moodle2017.mmm.muroran-it.ac.jp/course/view.php?id=5996 ※事前登録期間:後日掲示します ※Pre-registration period: April 7th (Friday) from 12:00pm to April 13th (Thursday), 12:00pm. ※受付期間は4月7日(金)の12時（正午）に開始し、4月13日(木)の12時（正午）に締め切ります。 欠席は理由の如何にかかわらず1回までしか認めない。2回以上欠席の者は、再履修しなければならない。 No more than one absence will be allowed regardless of the reason. Students who are absent two times or more must retake the course. 不合格者は再履修しなければならない。 Students who fail the class have to re-take the class. |
