授業のねらい
/Learning Objectives
This is a fifteen-week MC level course on presentations in English. The course is designed to develop the participants skills to enable them to present effectively. The course is aware of the growing need for students to present at international conferences in English and seeks to support that need. This will be achieved by starting with the foundational basic of making successful presentations. Students will learn about the three key parts which comprise successful presentations: 1 The Physical Message, 2 The Visual Message and 3 The Story Message. By examining these three combined elements detailed factors such as posture, eye contact, gestures, effective visuals and voice inflection will be focused upon. Vocabulary and useful expressions when presenting will also be covered. Students will have opportunities to practice their presenting skills within the classroom and to get feedback on areas for improvement from both the teacher and other students.

Students will learn about presentation skills and practice a range of these to ensure they are prepared for future presentations. At the end of the presentation course students will be able to:

 Utilize their voice as tool to engage an audience
 Utilize gestures to effectively support their presentations
 Utilize posture and body language to improve their presentations
 Utilize eye contact to connect with an audience
 Organize presentations in a logical order

授業計画
/Course Schedule
総授業時間数(実時間):22.5時間

Week 1. Course Introduction –  gives an overview of the course and assessment criteria amongst other important information.
Week 2. Posture and eye contact – Students will learn about the foundations of body position and eye contact.
Week 3. Gestures – Students will learn how to support their presentations by using a range of gestures.
Week 4. Voice inflection – Students will develop the skill of using their voice.
Week 5. Effective visuals – Students will explore the usage of visuals.
Week 6. Explaining visuals – Students will examine the most effective ways to explain visuals.
Week 7. Audience engagement – Students will develop skills to  draw in audience members.
Week 8. Transitions and utilizing evidence – Students will learn about effective transitions and the usage of evidence.
Week 9. Presentation conclusions -Students will examine the most effective methods for concluding a presentation.
Week 10. The physical message – Students will revisit the physical message.
Week 11. The visual message – Students will re-examine the visual message.
Week 12. The story message – Students will revisit the story message.
Week 13. Presenting as performance – Students will develop their performance skills.
Week 14. Presentation review – Students will have an opportunity to review all of the preceding factors.

成績評価方法
/Grading Guidelines
Presentation test, worksheets,と小テストが50%、学期末試験が50% の
100点満点中60点以上を合格点とする。到達度目標1,2,3は試験と小テストとworksheetsとspeaking testで評価する.

履修上の注意
/Notices
<成績・欠席・遅刻>
1. 不認定者は再試験を受けなければならない。再試験で認定された場合の評点は、60  
  である。
2. 欠席は理由の如何にかかわらず3回までしか認めない。4回以上欠席した場合には、再履修となる。
3. 正当な理由なく5分以上遅刻した場合には欠席扱いとなる。
4. 無断途中退席は欠席とする。やむを得ない事情で退室する場合は教員に声をかけること。途中退室が長引いた場合(目安10分)は授業終了後に事情を説明すること。十分な説明がなければ欠席扱いとする。
5. 不正(翻訳サイト使用等)防止のため、許可なく授業中にスマートフォン等を机上に置くことは禁止とする。置いていた場合には、その日の課題・小テスト・評価を無効とする場合がある。

Students will have ample opportunities for independent study as they will form individual presentations on material that is specifically relevant to them. By presenting their material in front of the class and groups a flipped classroom scenario will also be present.
