授業のねらい
/Learning Objectives
This is a course on basic presentation in English. It is designed to develop the participants skills to enable them to present effectively. This will be achieved by exploring the foundational basics of making successful presentations. Students will learn about different types of presentation. They will also study about the three key parts which comprise successful presentations: 1. The Physical Message, 2. The Visual Message, 3. The Story Message. By examining these three combined elements factors such as posture, eye contact, gestures and effective visuals will be focused upon. Vocabulary and useful expressions when presenting will also be covered. Students will have opportunities to practice their presenting skills within the classroom. Students will create both an academic poster and make presentations in this course. Partner/group work will be frequently done in lessons through textbook and other communicative activities. This course is delivered in English.

Students will learn about presentation skills and practice a range of these to help them prepare for future presentations.
At the end of the presentation course students will be able to:

 Utilize their voice as tool to engage an audience
 Utilize gestures to effectively support their presentations
 Utilize posture and body language to improve their presentations
 Utilize eye contact to connect with an audience
 Organize presentations in a logical order

Due to the epidemic situation of COVID19, the plan and implementation method may be changed. In that case, I will explain to you properly.

Each session requires an approximate total of 1.5 hours of study time, both pre- and post-session.

成績評価方法
/Grading Guidelines
Presentations/Poster Presentations 50%
Final exam 50%.
A grade at least 60% is necessary to successfully pass the course.
Students whose final grade is below 60% must do the final exam again.

Students cannot have more than 3 absences from the course.
A fourth absence will result in automatically failing the course.

/Message from Lecturer
Students can bring laptops with them to class to be able to use PowerPoint or similar software for in class preparation activities. Please be aware that all course participants will actively present in English in front of groups and the class in this course.

1. Do not arrive late. Entering the room after taking attendance will be considered tardy.
2. As a general rule, students are not allowed to leave the class after it has started.
3. Students who leave the room without permission will be considered absent.
4. If you attend the class, you have expressed your intention to participate in the class, so please be proactive and cooperative.

Students will have ample opportunities for independent study as they will form individual presentations on material that is specifically relevant to them. By presenting their material in front of the class and groups a flipped classroom scenario will also be present.

Group work will be an active component as peers will be offering advice and comments to help improve their classmates’ presentations. Students will be able to utilize their research knowledge in presentations that are within their area of expertise and so peer to peer learning will also occur.
