| 授業のねらい /Learning Objectives |
Language is one of the important aspects of culture, and is a sort of looking-glass, through which we can see and understand culture. This course aims at providing the students with fundamental knowledge about linguistics, a scientific study of language. Particular emphasis will be placed on understanding how diverse languages in the world are in the structural sense. Through exercises and activities (homework/assignments) to be given throughout this course, the students are expected to understand how diverse languages in the world are and how tightly languages and cultures are related. |

Hours in total: 10.5h Week 1: Introduction Week 2: Fundamentals of language Week 3: Linguistics: a scientific study of language Week 4: How diverse the world's languages are: #1 Week 5: How diverse the world's languages are: #2 Week 5: Language and culture: Case study Week 7: Term/Final examination *NOTE: There will be an assignment or exercise almost every week reviewing the content of a lesson; be sure to prepare for it. **The course plan given above can be slightly modified depending on class size. 新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行状況に伴い、学生への十分な周知のもと、授業計画・授業実施方法は変更する可能性があります。 Due to the epidemic situation of COVID19, the plan and implementation method may be changed. | 成績評価方法 /Grading Guidelines |
The score of each student is evaluated by an End-term Assignment 50% (to evaluate Outcomes1,2 and 3) and reaction papers/assignments 50% (to evaluate Outcomes 1,2 and 3).
