授業のねらい /Learning Objectives |
The aim of this subject is to study fundamental concepts in advanced materials engineering. In particular, we focus on rare earth elements (It is said that Rare earth is a vitamin for high-technology industry). The following topics are introduced; (1) physics and chemical properties of rare earth elements, (2) their potential to create functionalized materials, (3) resources and refining processes of rare earth elements (4) recycling of rare earth elements. |

On completion of this course, students will be able to: 1) explain fundamental properties of rare earths, 2) explain typical applications of rare earths, 3) understand global issues of rare earths, and consider a possible solution. |
