授業のねらい /Learning Objectives |
This subject is designed to obtain atomic-level information of materials from the magnetic moment of electrons and nuclei in the solid material as a microscopic probe by using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron spin resonance (ESR). |
到達度目標 /Outcomes Measured By: |
1. Understanding of principle theory of the magnetic resonance in solids on the basis of quantum theory. 2. Understanding of atomic-level information on solid materials obtained directly from the magnetic resonance such as internal magnetic fields, magnetic relaxation time, line width of resonance spectrum, chemical and Knight shifts. 3. Obtaining of microscopic concepts in solid materials based on the information from the magnetic resonance. |
授業計画 /Course Schedule |
1. Introduction 2. Overview of magnetic resonance 3. Basic theory: Motion of isolated spins, Effect of alternating magnetic fields, Bloch equations, Solution of the Bloch equations for low magnetic field, Relationship between transient and steady-state response of a system, Atomic theory of absorption and dispersion 4. Magnetic dipolar broadening of rigid lattices 5. Magnetic interaction of nuclei with electrons 6. Spin-lattice relaxation and motional narrowing of resonance lines |
