To study the basic phenomena and applications of superconductivity. To understand the basic properties of electrons in superconductors on the basis of quantum mechanics. |

On completion of this course, students will be able to: (1) explain the basic phenomena of superconductivity, (2) understand the basic properties of superconducting electrons on the basis of quantum mechanics, (3) explain typical applications of superconductivity. |

Students should have completed introductory quantum mechanics and thermal physics. Homework will be assigned at two or three week intervals. Some students will give a short talk to the class about the homework problems. |
