授業計画
/Course Schedule
First & Second Week : Enterprises and Structural Change in Industry
Do enterprises bring structural change in Industry?  Or any structural change in Industry transforms enterprises?  As an introduction to this course, questions as to functions of Management is raised in both in Macro and Micro Socio-Economic System.  We will pick up Japanese Beer Market as our case study to consider strategic actions taken by Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo, Suntory, and Daiei.

Third Week : Melancholy of Taylor and the birth of Management Science
This week’s theme is Taylor, the Father of Scientific Management.  We will look at what he searched for through his Shop-Management and TaSM-Management, and consider why he had to die in desperation, where we can find a real problem that management has to face.

Fourth Week : From Ford to GM
It is not too much to say that mass production and mass consumption started with Ford.  How could they succeed in lowering automobile prices that used to be so expensive?  How could they succeed in doubling income of American workers?  Their production system is the theme of this week.  We have to note the black color of T-Ford was not that of forced uniformity, but the color of the American Dream.  Soon, however, the fall of Ford came.  We will study how GM challenged Ford to question the power of organizational structure.

Fifth Week : From GM to Toyota

Because of not-enough space, whole class plan will be shouwn at first week.
