授業のねらい /Learning Objectives |
Fundamentals and application of fluid flow. The subject matter considered includes those in classical hydrodynamics, hydraulics and transport phenomena. The main topics are: Dynamics of a body moving through a fluid medium, inviscid fluid flows, viscous fluid flows, boundary layers, chaotic instability, unsteady pipe flow, and bubble dynamics. |

成績評価方法 /Grading Guidelines |
Takehome assignments (70%+30%). Students who submit both assignments and obtain a 60% + average over the assignments pass the course (no resit). The assignments will be assessed as follows: Structure, accuracy, clarity of communication, effective use of figures and tables, application of material and references, and your own analysis and interpretation. |
履修上の注意 /Notices |
The students will be expected to read the references on fluid mechanics prior to the class. They should refer to a math textbook and refresh your knowledge especially on fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and differential equations. A lecture cancellation and change will be posted on the bulletin board of Mechanical Engineering and Robotics Course or announced in the classroom. |
