授業のねらい Learning Objectives	この講義の目的は、グローバリゼーションを歴史的な視点から考えることにある。グローバリゼーションは、決して最近はじまったものではない。16世紀のスペイン・ポルトガルによるラテンアメリカへの進出に起源をもち、19世紀に、イギリスをはじめとするヨーロッパ諸国がアジア・アフリカへ進出したことで大きく展開した歴史の流れのなかにある。この講義で学ぶことによって、グローバリゼーションを基調とする現代世界への理解が増し、さらに、未来への展望を得ることができるだろう。 This class aims to view globalization from a historical point of view. The process of globalization began in the 16th century, when Spain and Portugal advanced to Latin America. Other European countries, especially Great Britain, extended their influence on Asian and African countries in the 19th century. The current globalization is regarded as the extension of this historical process. If you study the process, you will understand the world more deeply and get a better perspective on the future.

成績評価方法 Grading Guidelines	最終講義時に提出してもらうレポート（2000字）で評価する。 The score of each student will be evaluated by a final report (100 %) submitted at the final class.

教員メッセージ Message from Lecturer	この授業を受けるにあたって、みなさんにとってのいちばんのネックは、高校時代の世界史のつまらなさの記憶、もしくは、記憶そのものの喪失かもしれません。歴史研究に携わる者として、その責任をとります。予備知識は不要です。いまはどんな時代かという問題意識、過去と現在を往復する想像力、そして好奇心。それだけ持って授業に臨んでください。 You may regard a history class as boring. You may have poor knowledge of history. Don’t worry. I’ll show you how interesting history is. All you have to do is to try to comprehend our world with curiosity and imagination.
