授業のねらい Learning Objectives |
There is a strong need to design mechanical components and systems based on DfX (Design for X) as well as functions and strength in these days. The aim of the course is to teach students the knowledge of basic machine elements, conventional mechanical design, eco-design, universal design in the mechanical engineering fields, including state of the art in the information and practical solutions of the problems. |

On completion of this course, students should have the fundamental knowledge of machine design and the up-to-date information of DfX. |

成績評価方法 Grading Guidelines |
Examination (60%) and takehome assignment (40%). Students who obtain a 60% + average over the examination and the assignment pass the course (no resit). The assignment will be assessed as follows: Structure, Accuracy, Clarity of communication, Effective use of figures and tables, Application of material and references, and Your own analysis and interpretation. |
履修上の注意 Please Note |
The students will be expected to read the references on machine elements and mechanical design prior to the class. They should also refer to math and mechanical engineering textbooks to refresh their knowledge especially on differential equations, mechanical dynamics, and mechanics of materials. |

The hand-outs given in the class and information written on a blackboard will be given in English or Japanese, whereas the lecture will be distributed in Japanese. |
