| 授業のねらい |
| This class will focus on introducing students to new skills and approaches toward developing their writing skills. Students will learn to approach writing as a process， and will focus extensively on prewriting， writing， editing and revising. A variety of different types of paragraphs will be introduced including narrative， descriptive， comparison and contrast， and argumentative forms. Students will also be introduced to other rhetorical forms such business letters and summaries. All writing will involve prewriting and post writing activities that will require interaction with other students in the class. |

1) Increased competence and confidence in writing in English.
2) To develop the ability to approach writing as a process， and demonstrate ability in brainstorming， outlining， drafting and editing.
3) To learn to work with others to improve one's own writing.
4) An increased sense of audience， purpose and the communicatuve nature of writing. |

Weeks 6-7: Description (people)
Weeks 8-9: Comparison and Contrast
Weeks 10-11: Professional Writing (business letters)
Weeks 12-14: Expressing Opinions (summaries/paragraphs)
Week 15: Review， Final Exam

| No textbook is required for this class. You should bring a plastic file to hold the worksheets you will receive， and a notebook for writing in. |

| Dictionary: It would be advisable to bring a dictionary to class. An electronic dictionary is acceptable. |

| 成績評価方法 |
| Assessment will be based on assignments and test， as well as participation. A more complete explanation of grading will be provided at the beginning of the term. |

1. 欠席は理由の如何にかかわらず、履修登録締切り後、2回までしか認 めない。
2. 原則として、低年次履修は認めない。 |
