The Muroran Material workshop will be held from 14:35 to 15:50 on December 6 (Fri.) in Room N207, Education Research Bldg. 3. Silk that is both strong and beautiful has delicately woven fiber and a unique structure created by silkworms. Its mechanism and structure have been elucidated using NMR for the application of silk to regenerative medicine, especially to the development of silk-based artificial blood vessels, based on the accumulated knowledge. Professor emeritus Tetsuo Asakura of Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology talks about basic and applied studies on silk, with some interesting anecdotes.
