Action Guidelines for Avoiding COVID-19

Dear Students, Faculty and Staff at MuroranIT

Following the government’s decision to lower the status of the new coronavirus under the Infectious Diseases Control Law to “Class 5”, the same as seasonal influenza, effective May 8, the University reviews its action guidelines for infection prevention. The wearing of masks will be at the discretion of individuals in accordance with the government policy. As for other measures, until May 8, we will practice the following seven action guidelines, and each of you should be aware of them and make efforts to prevent infection.

(1) If you feel even the slightest change in your health condition, regardless of your temperature, minimize going out until your health recovers, and consider taking care of yourself at home, testing yourself with an antigen test kit, or visiting a hospital.

(2) Avoid the Three Cs.
 1. Crowded places with many people nearby
 2. Close-contact settings such as close-range conversations
 3. Closed spaces with poor ventilation

(3) Keep a safe distance from other people.

(4) Practice hand hygiene such as hand washing.

(5) Cooperate in ventilating the room.

(6) After returning home, wash your hands thoroughly, eat well, sleep well, and exercise moderately to stay healthy.

(7) Wearing a mask is a personal decision.
However, wearing a mask is recommended in the following situations.
○ When visiting a medical institution
○ When visiting medical institutions where many elderly people or people at high risk of serious illness are hospitalized or residing
○ When boarding crowded trains or buses
○ When people at risk of serious illness, such as those with underlying medical conditions, go out in crowded places
○ When going out with a cold or a family member who has a cold
○ If you or a family member living with you has COVID-19
○ If you are a person who has had a close contact with COVID-19 (in addition to the five-day waiting period, you must wear a mask for an additional two days).
